Lounge is the company’s first in Europe
American Express, which first announced plans for a Centurion Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport prior to the December 2018 pandemic, celebrated its opening on Tuesday.
The 650 square meter Centurion Lounge in London is located in Terminal 3 after security.
Visitors to the lounge have access to a large dining area, bar, shower stalls, toilets, high-speed WiFi, a spa and private telephone rooms. The menu focuses on food and drink representative of the city of London.
The lounge âtakes guests on a journey to discover London through designâ, according to a company statement.
The new Heathrow Lounge introduces a new offering in Centurion Lounges, the very first Centurion Lounge tea trolley. The tea trolley offers travelers a selection of hot and cold teas, as well as immune-boosting drinks and mango-infused coconut water, as well as a selection of pastries.
The bar offers a selection of typical British cocktails by mixologist Jim Meehan, as well as a wine list with selections from France, Italy and Argentina.
Various presentations are offered to travelers, starting with breakfast in the morning. Israeli chef Assaf Granit will include favorites from his restaurants in London, Paris and Tel Aviv, including homemade Kubalah bread; fried pita chips with tahini; Shakshukit, a beef and lamb dish with confit tomatoes and tahini; and his olive oil cake âOh ‘My Baklavaâ with pistachio anglaise and rose water diplomat.
Entry to the new lounge is free for American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders.
