Chelsea reportedly refused any transfer approach made for midfielder star Ruben Lotus-Cheek this summer, but could consider sending the youngster on loan again.

According to Dominique Fifield of Guardian, the likes of Everton, West Ham United and Crystal Palace, where Loftus-Cheek spent the previous season on loan, is reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old temporarily next season.

“Other contenders had even hoped to secure the player permanently, but Chelsea, regardless of who their head coach is next season, has already decided they will not consider a sale,” Fifield continued . “The Stamford Bridge hierarchy is convinced that Loftus-Cheek has an important role to play in Chelsea’s long-term future.”

As stated in the report, the Blues are expected to appoint Naples coach Maurizio Sarri as new manager in the coming days, although Antonio Conte is still in charge. Good playmaker Jean Michael Seri is said to be on his list of transfer targets.

After a promising season on loan at Crystal Palace in 2017-18, Loftus-Cheek won the England squad for the current FIFA World Cup. He impressed on the bench against Tunisia and then started for the Three Lions as they hammered Panama 6-1.

The Chelsea man put on another accomplished performance during this outing:

Ahead of this game, Loftus-Cheek spoke about his own future and hinted that he might have to leave the Blues if he is to get the football he needs at this point in his career.

“I want to play,” Loftus-Cheek said, by straight matt of The telegraph of the day. “That’s the key for me next season about where I end up. I want to play. I want to play as much as I can.”

Scouted Football’s Twitter account expressed bemusement at the situation, especially since the players appear to be ahead of Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order as it stands:

All Drinkwater and Barkley have on him is “experience” and a transfer fee – that’s it. It’s Loftus-Cheek time. He has too much talent to waste. He is quite capable of starting matches and playing 3000 league minutes for a top club, whether in England or Europe. https://t.co/hOseZ6VgFZ

During his time with Palace, the midfielder has shown that he has a lot to offer. Whether played as a narrow winger, supporting a center forward, or in a more withdrawn position, Loftus-Cheek can cause problems for defenders with his power and balance on the ball.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up if Chelsea send him on loan. Presenter Sarah Halpin is reportedly eager to see him at Everton:

A word on this guy too. I chose him as my best tournament prediction player. I think he’s been great, and the whole season for Palace. #efc continues to be linked to him. I would love to sign this boy. 🔵 #LoftusCheek https://t.co/lSkBPEJK2R

Another season with regular games could be to the Blues’ advantage so they can continue to assess Loftus-Cheek in the Premier League. However, that wouldn’t be a huge show of confidence in a young player who has made major strides in his career.

Loftus-Cheek will want some clarification on his long-term future, and after the form he’s been showing lately, he might think he deserves a chance with the Blues in 2018-19.
