Ed Holder files a complaint against another councilor

Exeter, Ontario. –

The Mayor of London says he will file a complaint with the integrity officer against another city councilor.

Commenting on an anti-vaccination rally held at Victoria Park over the weekend, Ed Holder, during the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s COVID-19 briefing on Monday, said, “I also noticed that a member of the city council did not vote only attended this event on Saturday but spoke. Unfortunately I am not surprised, but terribly disappointed. “

While Holder didn’t say what advice he was referring to, he goes on to say, “He is [the councillor] openly and visibly challenge and undermine Council policy through his participation. “

According to Holder, the council does not have the ability to sanction another council member and says the legality of the process in relation to the results is a function of the integrity commissioner.

In response to the specific question whether he would submit a complaint, Holder said: “… Can someone submit a complaint, the answer is yes. Will I make a complaint? The answer is yes. “

On September 14, the city council directed staff to develop a draft COVID-19 vaccination policy for city council members that will be similar to the one recently introduced for city workers.

It would require certification from all 15 council members that they are either fully vaccinated or have a health or human rights waiver.

Potential violations of the policy would be sent to the Integrity Commission for investigation. If a council member has broken the law, the council can face consequences that can range from a verbal reprimand to a suspension of salary.

As CTV News London reported earlier this month, Councilor Michael Van Holst invites those who share his beliefs regarding COVID-19 to join his creed.

Van Holst previously announced that the “Order of Freedom” was launched online to provide what he believed to be a human rights exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine guidelines.
