Great Britain and Vietnam improve cooperation in the digital economy, transformation

British Parliamentarian under Foreign Secretary in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Chris Philp and Vietnamese Minister for Information and Communication Nguyen Manh Hung recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in the digital economy and digital transformation. Hung also met representatives from the techUK trade association and the UK-ASEAN Business Council.

The two officials shared strategic directions, national programs and projects to develop the digital economy and society of their countries, and initiatives and policies to support digital economic development.

They also exchanged ideas about ways to expand cooperation and strengthen coordination between management agencies on digital transformation, digital economy, digital business connections and discussed measures for the joint development and organization of the implementation of initiatives within the framework of the UK-ASEAN Digital Innovation Partnership and that Asia-Pacific Digital Trade Network, a news agency from London reported.

Philp presented a plan to implement initiatives to expand cooperation in digital economic development with the Asia-Pacific region and ASEAN through the UK-ASEAN Digital Innovation Partnership and a program to support ASEAN in the implementation of digital trading platforms, standards and architectural frameworks for smart buildings.

Starting in 2022, the Vietnamese ministry will consider implementing digital forums, investment promotion programs and seminars between Vietnam and the UK so that companies can find partners, expand the market and collaborate on digital economy and digital transformation projects.

Hung accompanied Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on his trip to the 26th Conference of the United Nations on Climate Change (COP26) and a working visit to the UK.
