After being unable to sort out all the details with Brno, the Rangers loaned Libor Hajek to HC Olomouc.
NYR Defender Libor Hajek
Libor Hajek, now 22, made a strong impression in the 2018-19 season where he played 5 games and scored a superb goal before seeing his season end earlier due to a separated shoulder.
At the start of last season, Libor took the team out of the camp and was partnered in left defense with Adam Fox. The two rookies struggled with puck management and were separated, with Hajek finding himself playing mostly with Jacob Trouba.
In 28 games, he collected 5 assists but sometimes struggled. He was eventually sent to Hartford to continue his development. He collected 3 points playing for the Wolf Pack in 23 games.
The Rangers are expected to give him a legitimate chance to earn a spot this coming season. Look for him to challenge Brendan Smith and Marc Staal for the third pairing on the left defense.
