After winning the World Cup in the 2020 season, the Buccaneers will lead the league’s expansion into Germany. Tampa Bay will host the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in the country at Bayern Munich Stadium.
The Cardinals play at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where they hosted the league’s first regular-season game outside of the United States in 2005.
“When the Cardinals hosted the first NFL regular-season game outside of the United States in 2005, we saw firsthand the extraordinary support and incredible passion of our fans in Mexico,” said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill. “We know that has grown exponentially in the years since and we’re excited to return to Mexico City and the Estadio Azteca in 2022.”
The Packers are the 32nd NFL team to play in London since 2007 when they will host a game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“We have a great lineup of teams coming to the UK and Germany this year,” said Brett Gosper, NFL Head of Europe and UK. “Having the Packers become the 32nd team to play in London is hugely exciting for the fans and a great sign of the league’s commitment to international games in the year of the London Games in 2008, and we welcome them back.
“We’re thrilled to have a newly crowned Super Bowl champion playing with the Buccaneers in Munich and thank them for making sure it’s a memorable start to our game series in Germany.”
The Saints are playing in the UK for the third time with victories in each of their previous ventures and will also host Tottenham in London.
The Jaguars, who previously announced they would play at London’s Wembley Stadium in 2022, are expected to make their ninth trip to England.
In 2021, as part of the NFL’s regular season increase to 17 games, it was determined that starting in 2022, up to four of the teams from the conference whose teams qualify for a ninth regular-season home game each year will instead be designated an international game each year to play in a neutral place.
Opposing teams, dates and kick-off times will be announced later this year, along with the announcement of the full 2022 schedule.
