Fraud: Sprague Road
A resident contacted police on February 17 after calling a company she believed to be an education loan company about her school loan. She later learned that it was a scam. However, she gave the contact all of her personal information. The police asked him to stop at the station to file a report.
Train stopped: Lewis Road
Police spoke to Norfolk Southern Railroad at 5:30 p.m. on February 11 due to a train blocking the tracks on Lewis Road. The train was missing five cars to cross this level crossing.
They told police a “high priority” train was due to move and was about 15 minutes away and the crossing should be cleared in about 30 minutes.
Police charged the company with blocking a level crossing, which reopened at 6:22 p.m.
Car crash: Columbia Road
Police cited a driver for not giving in at 7:12 p.m. on February 12 at the intersection of Water Street and Columbia Road. The accident did not cause any injuries.
Assisted agency: Fitch Road
Police received a call from North Ridgeville Police at 10 p.m. on February 12 saying they were chasing a car that had escaped from a car crash. They called off the chase and wanted local officers to know about the car in case it was in town.
Speeding: Bagley Road
Police cited a motorist at 12:40 a.m. on February 13 for speeding and an expired license plate.
Speeding: Fernwood Drive
A motorist was cited for speeding at 4 p.m. on February 13.
Speeding: Mapleway Drive
Police cited a motorist at 10 p.m. on February 13 for speeding.
Parked car: Cercle de l’Érablière
Police attempted to contact the owner of a parked car at 7:39 p.m. on February 15 who was on the street as trucks attempted to clear snow. They were able to contact the owner a little later. The owner has moved the car.
Fraud: Cooper Turn
A resident went to the police station on February 17 after receiving a letter from the unemployed saying the agency had received a file in her maiden name. She did not request. The police gave him his contact details in order to report the fraudulent activity.
Assistance: Columbia Road
Security forces responded to a fire at 4:46 p.m. on February 17. Black smoke billowed from a duplex. The appellant was trying to get people out of the upstairs apartment.
The origin of the fire appeared to be from a radiator in a wall. The house was evacuated. It was noted at 4:52 p.m. that smoke and flames were no longer coming out of the residence. Traffic resumed at 5:12 p.m.
Warning: Lewis road
An officer stopped a car at 7:54 p.m. on February 17 that was going to pull into the grounds of East River Park. The group had planned to go sledding. The officer told them the park was closed.
