The Development Bank of Wales welcomes new non-executive board members

Two new appointments bring together more than five decades of finance and board level experience to the Development Bank of Wales.

Dianne Walker and Iestyn Evans will join the Development Bank Board as non-executive directors effective March 1, 2022.

They have respectively held senior and board positions in international and UK-based companies and will join the board when the development bank reaches the end of its first five-year business plan and determines its future role and objectives.

Born and raised in North Wales, Dianne brings over 30 years of finance and advisory experience to the development bank and was recently named Non-Executive Director of the Year by the Sunday Times.

Dianne previously worked in the senior management team at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Manchester and has since acted as a consultant to a wide range of companies, from multinational public companies to employee-run and owner-run companies.

Dianne said: “The Development Bank is a unique resource in the Welsh economy and plays a huge role in supporting and empowering Welsh businesses.

“As an organisation, the Development Bank places a strong emphasis on inclusion, sustainability and leadership and I look forward to making a positive contribution to the Board as it moves into the next phase of delivery to the Welsh economy.

Iestyn Evans has over two decades of experience in the finance and banking world.

Born in Talgarth, Powys and raised in the South Wales Valleys, he began his career at Deloitte in the late 1990s.

He has held senior positions at employers such as Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), Virgin Money, Omni Partners, Amicus CLP and Monument, as well as a number of strategic board level positions.

Iestyn said: “Development Bank is transforming the way it delivers its services, ensuring it continues to provide superior customer service and value for money.

“I look forward to supporting these goals with my experience in change management – especially in digital change management – on this journey.”

“Financial expertise and direct practical experience”

Gareth Bullock, Chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dianne and Iestyn to the Board.

“They bring important financial know-how as well as direct, practical experience with the types of companies that the development bank supports with equity and debt financing.

“I would like to congratulate both of them on their appointments and look forward to working with them as we continue our important work in support of the Welsh economy and businesses.”
